Reiterating that government has let them down on the contentious issue of Lokpal Bill, Gandhian Anna Hazare said that he will undertake a fast from July 29 at Jantar Mantar to carry on the crusade. He emphasised that the main aim of fasting again was to bring an effective anti-graft bill.
Addressing the media in the national capital on Tuesday, Anna said, “My team members asked me not to undertake the fast considering my health. So I told them that I will fast after four days. My team will begin their fast from tomorrow.”
“The government, Standing Committee and various commissions have let us down,” Anna said adding, “the government does not want to check corruption.”
Shedding light on his meeting with the Law Minister, the Gandhian said, “The government sent Salman Khurshid to meet me at my village. He said that the government was willing to pass the Lokpal Bill that we wanted. But nothing was done about it. The government has betrayed us time and again.”
“The government has accused us of cheating and getting foreign funding. In my whole life I have maintained a clean image,” Anna said apparently hurt.
